Hyde Park Boutique Hotel

Good

Not sure why it’s called a “boutique” hotel, as there was nothing special about the place. Decent rooms, average breakfast, not bad but nothing to make it stand out as “boutique”. Quiet location but a bit of a walk to the nearest Underground stations. Friendly staff. Room size & facilities OK. No elevator in the building, which wasn’t a problem for me (I’m a light packer), but if you have a large suitcase, better ask for a room on a lower floor; that third floor staircase is steep!

The location is great, only a 10-12 minute walk to Paddington station and then a 5 minute walk to Bayswater/Queensway station. You also have a range of restaurants and grocery shops nearby. Along with Hyde Park being nearby, Notting Hill is a 20 minute walk away but obviously quicker with the underground. The property is clean and well kept, the staff were friendly. The bed was very comfortable. The hair dryer was of good use. The standing fan was great to have, and an iron and ironing board! There’s also options to WhatsApp the reception with any issues/queries which is a great initiative. This is a hotel ideal for quick/short stays. While I can appreciate the structure of the property and maintaining its originality it does need to be highlighted on bookings, especially for those with mobility issues or health conditions, that there is no lift in this hotel and there is only use of stairs and if on the 3rd or 4th floor the stairs are very narrow and steep. The breakfast was also slightly lacklustre but I can understand this may be due to guests not opting for it or if bookings are not as busy. The WiFi also did not work on the 4th floor but I didn’t raise this at the time due to having data and being out of the hotel.

The location was great and close to a lot of stations and bus stops.

Passable

It was located in a nice and safe surburb. I was allocated a room on the top floor, the place has no elevator and literally the longest stairs. I felt unsafe all the times, such that if I had tripped and fell, I would have hurt my self. I was uncomfortable. I had terrible wifi and I kept complaining and would get responses that the issue was fixed even when it wasn’t. I was attending an academic conference but I couldn’t do my work due to the wifi issue I was experiencing in my room. I even asked to be changed to a better room but they wouldn’t let me.

The hotel is situated not far from shops, restaurants and within an easy walk from the tube. It is well presented, tidy and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was big and it was great to have a fridge, safety deposit box, iron/ironing board as well as fans. We slept well. Nothing, all was great.
