The rooms were charming and fit the historic character of the property, which we appreciated. However, our room could definitely use some updating and a more thorough cleaning. The shower fixtures were rusted, and the shower walls were noticeably dirty. Housekeeping was also disappointing. We did not receive regular housekeeping service during our stay and had to call the front desk just to get clean towels. The Morris House has a lot of character, a great location, and wonderful staff, but improved cleanliness, maintenance, and housekeeping service would make the experience much better.

If you want to stay at a "cookie-cutter" hotel, don't come to Morris House. If you want to stay at a classy but unpretentious oasis among chaos, then this is your place.

This place is a gem. I expected the charm of a colonial-era building, but the reality exceeded my expectations. The whole stay was marked by attention to details. The welcome was relaxed and we had a personal tour of the facilities (and all the staff during our visit was friendly and helpful). The entire house was decorated in subdued elegance, as was our room. We loved the little amenities (afternoon snacks) and the breakfast (no bacon or pancakes, but most everything else). Also, we were very happy that an excellent restaurant (Soufiane's) is in the building. Needless to say, the location in the heart of historic Philadelphia, which is a very walkable city anyway, is an added bonus. There is no more charming hotel in Philadelphia. The only possible improvement for us senior citizens would be an elevator, but in a house nearly 250 years old, we certainly did not expect one. In any case, the staff very kindly carried our bags to our room.

You can hear people upstairs walking around and going up and down the staircase. It was noisy. They were up till midnight and later. Otherwise it’s a lovely place.

Breakfast was good, i would add unsweetened yogurt. Air conditioner was noisy. Also there was a loud mystery noise that probably came from the air conditioner

Room was clean, and spacious. There were 2 adults and 2 children. Pull out bed was made when we checked in, which is always nice! Morning continental breakfast was a great start to the day. English muffins, baked goods, fresh fruit and yogurts.

Beautiful historic mansion, very lovingly cared for by a delightful staff. Guests felt like they were part of history. Continental breakfast was fine, no frills but with very good fresh coffee -- all we needed. Bathroom was spacious, with both a shower and soaking tub. Comfortable bed and luxe pillows. Excellent location, easily walkable to everywhere, but on a quiet street. As noted on the website, no elevator, which was good to know in advance. Stairs to second floor room were steep and needed to be taken with caution.

Loved the location, had tub with jets. They sent me to a wonderful hotel. Breakfast was good. Parking is across the street. Just hard to figure out how to get into garage.

The Morris house hotel is simply amazing! It is charming, it is centrally located in Philadelphia, it is so beautiful, and so perfect that I can’t wait to go back. The staff were helpful, the food was excellent, and the rooms were beautiful. If I could give it 10 stars I would.
